High School Academy
Train like a firefighter while still in high school! The Howell Schools Fire Academy gives juniors and seniors the chance to earn their State of Michigan Firefighter I & II certification through hands-on training, real-world scenarios, and expert instruction.
Classes run Monday through Friday from 7–9 a.m. at Brighton Area Fire Station 34. Students learn everything from fire safety and emergency response to teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness—all in a structured, para-military setting.
This is more than a class—it’s a launchpad into a firefighting career. Students wear uniforms, train in full gear, and get the chance to join their local fire department as a Junior Fire Cadet.
