Enhancing Community Safety with Two New Rescue Boats

January 7, 2026

Brighton Area Fire Authority has significantly enhanced its water and ice response capabilities by acquiring two new Rescue boats. The new fleet includes a 14-foot inflatable rescue boat and a 16-foot aluminum boat, both equipped with state-of-the-art sonar technology.

Both vessels are suitable for operation on both the large and small lakes within our response area. The inflatable boat offers versatility, as it can be hand-carried to locations without a boat launch. For larger bodies of water, both boats can be utilized together.

A key feature of these boats is the top-of-the-line GPS/sonar systems, which are more than just sonar units. These sonar chartplotters are essential for tracking search patterns and accurately marking points of interest. This advanced technology ensures seamless interoperability with Livingston and surrounding Counties during critical dive, ice, and water rescue incidents.
